Fresno, CA (March 12, 2007) – On March 13, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. Fire Chief Randy Bruegman will be addressing the City Council regarding the delivery of fire services to county islands within the city limits. The response system in place has proven to be inadequate, and compromises the safety of both county island residents and firefighters. Additionally, the current system results in the shifting of neighborhood fire protection tax dollars being spread throughout Fresno County, providing a patchwork fire protection plan. Chief Bruegman states “County island residents should be receiving the same level of fire service as their neighbors in the City.” the Chief will be making make his recommendations aimed at solving this public safety crisis at 10:30am tomorrow’s City Council meeting.
