Mayor's Education Office City of Fresno
“Fresno … a united city working together to ensure equal access to opportunity, education and quality of life for every Fresnan regardless of their race, religion, age or socio-economic status” -- Mayor Alan Autry --
The Mayor’s Education Office was established for the specific purpose of permanently reuniting the City of Fresno and our local school systems. It operates as a function of the Mayor’s Office and is bound to the principle that all students have an equal opportunity for quality education regardless of age, aptitude or socio-economic situation.
Because public education has the most consequential effect on the well being of our city, the Mayor’s Education Office is committed to the objective of ultimately recovering local control of our schools in partnership with business, community organizations and local education entities.
Duties and Responsibilities of Mayor's Education Office
- Communicate the Mayor’s vision through participation on boards, commissions and task forces throughout the community
- The Office of Education is the community contact point for education issues within city government
- Build productive relationships between community stakeholders (i.e. business, education, government, etc.) to improve and enrich the quality of education and workforce preparedness in our city
- Act as liaison to local, state and federal agencies for the purpose of developing, implementing, advancing and supporting the goals set forth by the Mayor’s Education Office

Like numerous other cities of distinction, we must commit ourselves to the rehabilitation of our public school system. Every city across the country that has successfully renewed and revitalized itself points to a robust education system as its fundamental key to success. All of the factors that make up a quality city – safe streets, high paying jobs, strong neighborhoods, etc. – emanate from a strong educational premise.
