Mayor Alan Autry

Alan Autry was first elected to the office of Mayor in 2001, and re-elected by an overwhelming margin to a second term in 2005. During his time in office, he has committed himself to achieving the mission of “Fresno, a united city working together to ensure equal access to opportunity, education and quality of life for every man, woman and child regardless of their race, religion, age or socio-economic status.” To attain this goal, Mayor Autry’s efforts have centered on active perseverance in crime reduction, education reform, affordable housing availability, and government reform.

An ardent champion of government reform, Mayor Autry has initiated Fresno’s Outcome-Focused Government movement, christened the NEW NORMAL. Performance measurement, observable achievement of key objectives, articulation of a Vision, Values and Key Results Areas, and a performance-based pay plan are hallmarks of Fresno’s NEW NORMAL. The transformation of this City’s government has begun to receive attention in the community, and will continue to achieve marked progress in changing the quality of life for Fresno’s citizens.

Through innovation, resourcefulness and creativity, Mayor Autry has catapulted Fresno towards its rightful position as a top-tier city in the nation. His actions as Mayor continue to focus on ensuring that Fresno assumes a leadership role at both the statewide and national level. To that effort, Mayor Autry serves on several boards and commissions at local, state and federal levels, most notably:

On a personal level, Alan Autry was born in Shreveport, Louisiana. As a young child, Autry moved to California to the San Joaquin Valley farming community of Riverdale. After years working the cotton fields in California, Mayor Autry received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of the Pacific in 1975. He attended the University of the Pacific on an athletic scholarship. Drafted by the Green Bay Packers, Autry spent three years in the National Football League as a quarterback. At the conclusion of his professional football career, Mayor Autry pursued work in the entertainment industry and launched an acting and directing career that has now spanned more than 20 years.

In conjunction with his duties as Mayor for the City of Fresno, Alan Autry serves as CEO for Autry Entertainment Group, a successful film and TV production and management company for which the Mayor’s wife Kimberlee manages the daily operations. Mayor Autry has three children—Lauren, Heather and Austin.
