Bicycle/Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC)
The Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) was established in 2002, by Fresno City Council and is comprised of concerned community members with interest and expertise in bicycle and pedestrian issues. BPAC meets monthly at City Hall, on the fourth Thursday of the month. Members of BPAC work closely with staff members of the Public Work Department along with other departments as needed toward making Fresno a more cyclist and pedestrian friendly community.
BPAC provides cycling experience, advocacy, and advice to City Departments to improve the bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure in Fresno. BPAC encourages the City to install new bicycle facilities for both recreational trips and commuter uses such as trails and bike lanes in critical areas of the City to establish a comprehensive system/network of accessibility. The BPAC also encourages departments to ensure that end-of-trip facilities, such as safe and secure bike racks, are available. BPAC committee members were instrumental in the preparation of the City’s first Bicycle Transportation Plan (BTP), and are now planning a new update of the plan called the Bicycle Master Plan (BMP), which will be a comprehensive plan that looks at enhancing the vision and implementation of bicycle and pedestrian facilities.
The Traffic Engineering staff is available to field questions, comments, and requests by email at: bmp@fresno.gov
