Engineering Services
Project Design
The Project Design Section is an in-house team of engineers and technicians using computer technology to prepare construction plans and engineering specifications for city Capital Improvement Projects (CIP's). Under the direction of the City Engineer, Project Design also maintains and updates the city Standard Drawings and Specifications.
Right of Way Services
The Right of Way Services Section manages the acquisition of real estate for public streets, city parks, and other municipal facilities. In addition, Right of Way Services administers engineering cost accounting relating to the city's UGM (Urban Growth Management) system of infrastructure fees and reimbursements.
Subdivision Plan Check and Permit Services
Subdivision Services is responsible for plan check and engineering drawings for the construction of water mains, sewers, streets, and other public improvements. Utility Permits and Street Work Permits for work within the public right of way are also processed through Subdivision Services, as well as Transportation Permits, special Parking Permits, and Monitoring Well Permits. In addition, Subdivision Services is responsible for maintaining a GIS parcel layer which contains over 190,000 parcels.
Transportation Studies
The Transportation Studies staff participates in regional transportation planning meetings, develops scoping documents for transportation projects, and applies public improvement requirements to subdivision maps and development entitlements.
