SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) System is the City’s computer system that monitors and controls industrial/infrastructure/facility-based processes in regards to delivering a consistent water supply. The SCADA system consists of multiple computer servers running proprietary SCADA software.

• Supervisory Control - At each well site, there is a small controller that reads inputs such as flow, pressure, water level, power usage, etc. It then makes decisions based on programmed logic whether or not to start or stop the pump.
• Data Acquisition - The controllers at each site communicate back to the computer servers via radio where the pressure, flow, etc. is logged to a database.
• From there, judgments are made based on cost and other factors. If water is needed, we can turn on the most cost effective well to meet demands in any specific area around Fresno.
