WATER CONSERVATION ALERT Avoid Wasting Precious Water During Rain Storms
01/25/2010
Today, the City of Fresno played host to a forum on critical water issues which provided a serious reminder of the water crisis facing the Valley. The City of Fresno Water Division would like to take this opportunity to remind all residents and businesses that we are still in a severe drought despite the storm systems on the way. As the community prepares for the storm systems which have been projected by the weather bureau, the City of Fresno Water Conservation representatives ask that all landscape irrigation systems be switched to the “rain mode” or turned off. “In addition to the rain providing much needed water into our recharge basins, this is an opportune time to conserve water by shutting down all landscape irrigation systems,” stated Martin Querin, Assistant Director of the Water Division.
Year round conservation is key to being successful in our efforts to reduce the amount of water we use. “The public is very conscientious about conserving water and seeing sprinklers running during a rain storm doesn’t sit well with many of our customers who call to report the water waste”, said Nora Laikam, Water Conservation Supervisor.
