Policing Districts
The Fresno Police Department has divided the city into five policing Districts:
- Southwest - The District's southern border is the city limits, which extends primarily to Central Avenue. The northern border is Tulare/Divisidero Avenue and extends to Shields Avenue along Weber Avenue. The eastern border begins at Railroad Avenue to the south and continues north along East Avenue and continues to First Street. The western border is along the city limits which begins at Valentine Avenue in the south and extends to the north as far as Hayes Street, between McKinley and Olive Streets.
- Southeast - This District extends north to Dakota and Maple and continues east to Clovis Avenue, where it continues east along Ashlan Avenue to DeWolf Avenue. The southern border begins at the city limits at Central Avenue and continues along North Avenue and ends at the city limits to the east. The western border begins at Railroad Avenue to the south and continues north along East Avenue and continues to First Street. The eastern border goes out to the city limits which is primarily along Temperance Avenue.
- Central - This District is commonly referred to as the "Tower District," due to the old Tower Theater located in the main business hub. The southern border is Tulare/Divisidero Avenue which extends from Maple to Weber Avenue. The northern border is Shields Avenue which extends from Maple to Hughes Avenue. The eastern border is Maple Avenue, and the western border is Weber Avenue.
- Northeast - This District extends north from Shields Avenue to the northern city limits. The northern border extends primarily along Copper Avenue. The western border begins at Blackstone Avenue and extends to the eastern city limits, which is primarily along Willow Avenue.
- Northwest - This District extends north from Shields Avenue to the northern city limits, which ends at the San Joaquin River. The eastern border begins at Blackstone Avenue and continues west to the western city limits. The western border extends from Hayes Street and Shields Avenue in the south and extends to Chateau Fresno and the San Joaquin River in the north.
