HOMICIDE #26 UPDATE: Homicide Gang Related; 2nd Victim Still Hospitalized

Police Chief Jerry Dyer would like to update the media on homicide #26 that occurred Sunday morning in Southwest Fresno.
According to investigators, the victim, identified as 15-year-old Destiny Ortiz was attending a large party hosted and attended by Bulldog gang members. Flyers for the party were distributed in the neighborhood, advertising a cover charge and alcohol being served.
Shortly after midnight on August 10th, a disturbance broke out at the party at 335 N. Delno. Shortly afterward, shots were fired resulting the death of Destiny Ortiz. A 17-year-old Hispanic male was also shot. He is currently in critical but stable condition at Community Regional Medical Center.
The motive for this shooting is unknown at this time, however there are several leads in the case.
Anyone with information on this case is urged to call Detective Raul Hernandez at 621-2449 or remain anonymous and call Crime Stoppers at 498-STOP. Persons with information leading to an arrest will be paid $1,000.
This is homicide #26 for the year. At this time last year there were 37 homicides.
