CHIEF DYER ASSIGNED NEW DUTY: Chief Takes Part in Celebrity Crossing Guard Day

Police Chief Jerry Dyer is proud to announce that he will volunteer as a crossing guard for Fresno children.
The Adult Volunteer Crossing Guard Program of the Volunteer Center of Fresno County is sponsoring Celebrity Crossing Guard Day. This annual event highlights the need for this essential safety program and acknowledges the volunteers who give their time daily to assure the arrival of Fresno children to their schools.
Celebrity Crossing Guard Day will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2008 from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.
Chief Dyer will volunteer at John Muir Elementary School located at 410 E. Dennet Ave. by North Palm Ave. in Central Fresno.
There are 59 current volunteers who help children arrive safely to 35 schools throughout the City of Fresno. Last year there were 6,677 hors donated by the volunteers to the community, with a value of $146,693.
