Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer along with Big Fresno Fair CEO John Alkire is calling a press conference to announce a major donation to the Fresno Police Department and offer Fairgoers a chance to make Police Department history. A generous donation from The Big Fresno Fair to the Fresno Police Department’s Mounted Patrol Unit means a new horse for the department. The Fresno Police Department would like to honor The Big Fresno Fair’s generous donation by giving fairgoers the chance to name the newest member of the Mounted Patrol. >more

09/15/08  GOVERNOR'S PUBLIC SAFETY OFFICER MEDAL OF VALOR:     Sergeant Honored for his Bravery during Mardi Gras Shooting
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, the California Department of Justice and Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer are proud to announce that Sergeant Jerardo “Charlie” Chamalbide will be awarded the 2007 Governor’s Public Safety Officer Medal of Valor. On February 20, 2007, the annual Mardi Gras celebration in the Tower District was disrupted when a gunman shot and seriously injured a motorcycle officer. Officer Gil Holguin initiated a traffic stop with Joel Perales, 23 years old, for driving in the wrong direction. >more

09/10/08  K9 UNIT WINS 13 AWARDS:     Fresno Police Take Home "Best Team" Honors
Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer is proud to announce the success of the K9 Unit in a competition against 15 law enforcement agencies from all over the state of California. Members of the Fresno Police K9 Unit competed in the 11th Annual K9 Trial hosted by the Petaluma Police Department. The officers and their K9 partners competed in categories such as obedience, agility, area search, building search, and protection. >more
