04/02/07  MADD Honors Two of Fresno's Finest
Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) held a Statewide Law Enforcement and Community Recognition Event honoring heroes on Saturday, March 31, 2007 at the Sheraton Grand in Sacramento, California.Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer and Sergeant Eric Eide received awards for their efforts in curtailing drunk driving in the City of Fresno, and thereby keeping families from going through the agony and suffering by those left behind.Chief Dyer received the "MADD California Outstanding Law Enforcement Agency Award" for having created a full-time DUI squad of 26 officers to conduct saturation patrols and frequent sobriety checkpoints. >more

Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer is asking for the public's help in locating the suspect who robbed a woman while withdrawing money from an ATM at the Educational Employees Credit Union located at 5640 E. Kings Canyon Road.On March 8, 2007 at approximately 8:17 pm, the woman was about to remove money from the ATM when the suspect standing in line pretending to be a customer, took her money. >more

Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer would like to invite the public to a ceremony next week honoring the six Fresno Police Officers who came face-to-face with mortal danger in the past year, and the dispatchers who supported them.Officers Brian Nieto, Trevor Shipman, Daniel Messick, Raphael Davis, Gil Holguin, and Sergeant Charlie Chamalbide will all receive the Van Meter Award for serious injuries suffered in the line of duty.The ceremony is Monday, March 26 at 2:00 pm in City Hall Council Chambers.Photographs and interviews with the honored officers and dispatchers can be arranged with the Public Information Officer on the day of the event >more

Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer is lauding the cooperation between the Fresno Police Department, Fresno County Probation, local media, and the victim homeowner. All were instrumental in arresting Bobby Franco of Fresno (date of birth 12/19/1983). Franco was arrested for committing a residential burglary where the victim had placed video cameras to help protect his property.Franco's Probation Officer was watching the local news when he saw the video and identified the suspect >more

Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer is asking for the public's help in locating a home burglary suspect.On February 13, 2007 at approximately 11:00 am, and African-American male is seen on home surveillance camera "casing" a residence on the 3300 block of East Acacia for the purpose of burglarizing it. The suspect is seen damaging the video camera before entering the residence through the garage.What the suspect didn't realize is that the home was equipped with a second video camera that shows an even better video of the suspect >more

03/17/07  Dramatic Skywatch FLIR Video
Last night the Fresno Police Department was involved in the dramatic rescue of a 12-year-old girl and her older brother who were involved in a very serious motorcycle collision. The 12-year-old female passenger called Fresno Police after the accident, but didn't know her location, as she and her brother were not from the area. After approximately 45 minutes on the phone with the juvenile victim, Fresno Police Patrol units along with Skywatch were able to locate the victims at Cornelia and Belmont, some 5 miles from where she described as her location.As mentioned, Skywatch was able to locate the pair using FLIR (Forward Looking Infa-Red) technology >more

Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer would like to update the media on homicide number 8, which occurred in Northwest Fresno.On March 15, 2007 at 4:40 pm, Downtown bike officers were contacted by Javance Payne, 47 of Fresno, at Police Headquarters. Payne calmly told bike officers that he was on parole and had killed somebody. >more
