04/26/07  Inaugural Mayor's Tae Kwon Do Tournament
Mayor Alan Autry and Police Chief Jerry Dyer are proud to announce the first annual Mayor’s Tae Kwon Do Tournament. The tournament will give locals a chance to begin their pursuit of Olympic dreams in the ever-growing sport of Tae Kwon Do. Winners of this local tournament could qualify for a national event to be held in Fresno later this year, and could eventually lead to a chance to compete in the Olympic Team Trials. >more

04/26/07  Sego Palm Theft Caught on Tape
Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer is asking for the public’s help in identifying several suspects seen on surveillance tapes stealing Sego Palm trees. On at least three occasions, two suspects are seen stealing or attempting to steal Sego Palm trees from the Auto Gallery, located at 61 E. Shaw in Northeast Fresno. >more

04/13/07  Sobriety Checkpoint and Saturation Patrol
The Fresno Police Department's Traffic Enforcement Bureau will conduct a DUI sobriety checkpoint and saturation patrol on April 14, 2007 in the Southeast District of the City beginning at 6:00 pm. Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer would like to remind the public that leaving a car running and unattended is an invitation to have that vehicle stolen. 04/10/07  Dispatcher in Nieto Shooting Honored: Dispatcher Rafael Guzman named "Dispatcher of the Year"
Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer is proud to announce that Dispatcher Rafael Guzman has been named "Dispatcher of the Year" by his peers at the Fresno Police Department.Guzman was the dispatcher assigned to the "Motors" channel on July 31, 2006 the night Joaquin Figueroa shot and nearly killed Officer Brian Nieto. Dispatcher Guzman is credited with maintaining a sense of calm and giving clear directions during a very intense time for officers tending to Officer Nieto and those involved in the search for the suspect.Dispatcher Guzman will be honored at the Public Safety Communications Association Banquet on April 14, 2007 at the Clovis Memorial Building, 453 Hughes Avenue in Clovis >more
