The Fresno Police Department's Traffic Enforcement Bureau will conduct a DUI checkpoint on June 9, 2007 in the Southwest District of the City, beginning at 6:00 pm. Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer is proud to announce an event this weekend that will provide a first for many kids in Fresno.The Police Activities League (PAL) is once again offering 40 kids involved with PAL and/or the Mayor's Gang Prevention Initiative (MGPI) a chance to take a ride in an airplane at Sierra Sky Park. Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer would like to announce an arrest in a major real estate fraud case.Fresno Police have arrested 54-year-old Phillip Contreras on more than 140 felony charges including forgery, grand theft, identity theft, and conducting real estate appraisals without a license.According to the investigation, over the last four years Contreras was illegally conducting real estate appraisals by using the legitimate appraisal license of his employer and conducting the appraisals without his employer's knowledge or consent.At least 40 victims have been identified with many more suspected >more
