12/19/07  PRESS CONFERENCE ANNOUNCEMENT New policy for teen drinkers announced
Police Chief Jerry Dyer is calling a press conference for tomorrow (12/20) to announce a new Fresno Police Department policy in regard to teens who are involved in an impaired driving collision.Joining Chief Dyer at the press conference will be Lynne Goodwin, who lost her daughter Casey at the hands of an underaged impaired driver. Goodwin will address the new Fresno Police Department policy and speak about her personal crusade to stop underaged drinking and driving. >more

12/13/07  HIGHWAY 99 SHOOTING UPDATE Victims targeted in gang shooting
Police Chief Jerry Dyer would like to update the media on last night's shooting on Highway 99.The investigation reveals that three brothers returning to Winton from Fresno were driving northbound on 99 just south of Ashlan when a vehicle described as a white 90's Toyota 4-Runner approached and began firing.The victims' vehicle was struck 12 times and two of the three occupants were hit. >more

12/07/07  FRESNO POLICE TV SHOW MAKES NATIONAL DEBUT“Driving: Under the Influence” airs Sunday Night on Court TV
Mayor Alan Autry and Police Chief Jerry Dyer are proud to announce the debut of a new television show featuring the Fresno Police Department’s Traffic Enforcement Bureau. The pilot episode of “Driving: Under the Influence” debuts Sunday night (12/7) at 11 PM West Coast Time on Court TV. The 30-minute show features the Traffic Enforcement Unit as they conduct DUI Checkpoints, Bar Watch Operations and Saturation Patrols. >more

11/29/07  AUTO THEFT SURGE   With cold weather comes spike in stolen cars
Police Chief Jerry Dyer would like to inform the public of a surge in auto thefts that has occurred this month, all of which were preventable.In the month of November alone, more than 30 cars have been stolen from drivers who either left the vehicle idling and unattended or with the keys visable inside the vehicle.During cold and hot months in Fresno, the Police Department sees a spike in stolen vehicles. >more

11/29/07  MAJOR PROPERTY CRIME THEFT ARRESTS   1,000 feet of copper wire recovered
Police Chief Jerry Dyer would like to inform the public of a major arrest of suspects stealing copper wire.Last night (11/28) a citizen called police to report suspicious activity in the area of Grantland and Roberts in Northwest Fresno. Patrol officers found a car in the 99/Shaw area that matched the description provided.Inside the vehicle was approximately 1,000 feet of copper wire that had been stolen from City of Fresno light poles and lamp posts >more

11/26/07  NEW DETAILS IN FATAL COLLISION
Police Chief Jerry Dyer would like to release details in this morning’s fatal collision involving a pedestrian at Cole Avenue and Audubon Drive in Northeast Fresno. The suspect has been identified as 39-year-old Craig Howard of Fresno. Howard is a Fresno Police Officer and was off-duty at the time of the collision. >more
