Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer would like to thank the hundreds who called, e-mailed, wrote letters, sent cards or flowers on behalf of injured Officer Brian Nieto. Chief Dyer would like to let the public and the media know that while Officer Nieto remains in extremely critical condition, he has shown signs of improvement after a second surgery.Chief Dyer would also like to announce that Crime Stoppers has significantly increased the reward for arrests in the officer Nieto shooting investigation.The reward for information leading to an arrest has increased from $10,000 to $30,000 >more

07/23/06  Heat-Related Deaths Prompt Warning From Fresno Police Department And American Ambulance
Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer is warning residents to have a plan in place to deal with the record breaking temperatures throughout the Valley. According to American Ambulance and the Fresno Police Department, there have been at least three (3) heat-related deaths in the City of Fresno over the last 24 hours. The Fresno Police Department and American Ambulance offer the following tips to help residents survive the heat wave. 1) Have a plan in place when the power goes out (go to an air conditioned public building like a mall, library, etc) >more

Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer is announcing the formation of a scholarship named for Officer Brian Nieto, who was shot and critically injured in the line of duty on July 31, 2006.Chief Dyer, Brian Nieto’s family, along with the Fresno Police Officer’s Association announce the Brian Nieto Family Scholarship Fund.
