Each year in the United States, hundreds of children are accidentally injured and/or killed by firearms that are not properly secured. By choosing to keep a firearm in your home, you are legally responsible for ensuring that the weapon is stored in a safe manner, and not easily accessible to children or other unauthorized individuals.

The Fresno Police Department supports the efforts of Project ChildSafe (www.childsafe.com/) in their firearm safety education endeavors. Project ChildSafe partners with governors, lieutenant governors, U.S. Attorneys, mayors, and local law enforcement agencies to promote firearm safety. To assist in this process, Project ChildSafe hands out free firearm safety kits at major community events such as state fairs, sporting festivals, and community safety days.
