FRESNO POLICE DEPARTMENT
AIR SUPPORT UNIT-SKYWATCH
ANNUAL STATS 2013

In 2013 the Air Unit was successful in accomplishing their set goal to increase flight time and productivity from the previous two years due to the economic crisis that the city and nation faced. The Air Unit was drastically reduced in flight hours and personnel size from 2010-2012. In 2013, the economic state of the city started to slowly improve. The Air Unit was able to increase flight time and operate 4 nights per week with the goal of getting back to 7 nights per week.

The Unit had significant increases in multiple categories. In 2013 the Air Support Unit increased their calls for service, handling 2,582 calls and able to cancel 218 ground units to make them available for other calls for service. They surpassed the previous year in flight time and increased their flight hours by flying a total of 1068.6 total flight hours.

Fresno PD Air Support continues to provide safety from the sky for the community and officers on the ground. Skywatch will continue to strive for nightly coverage to protect our community and officers on a nightly basis.
