Southeast Growth Area
The City of Fresno is embarking on one of the most important planning efforts in its history, the Southeast Growth Area, and we want you to be a part of it.
Why is this important?
Because this new growth area will house 20 percent of Fresno’s growth over the next 20 years, and will set the standard as to how Fresno will develop in the 21st century. The Southeast Growth Area (to view a map of the area, click here) covers over 14 square miles and will eventually house 55,000 residents. This area was designated as the City’s major new growth community in the 2025 Fresno General Plan, acknowledged by the County of Fresno in November 2002, and added to the City’s Sphere of Influence in May 2006.
Planning Process & Preparation of the EIR
As part of the planning process, the City has retained the services of Calthorpe Associates, a highly recognized and reputable planning firm with a tremendous amount of experience preparing Master Plans. A part of this plan will also include the preparation of an Environmental Impact Report (EIR).
SEGA NOP Review Period: October 27, 2008 to December 1, 2008
Public Scoping Meeting
A Public Information/Scoping meeting is scheduled to be held at the Fresno City Hall Council Chambers, 2600 Fresno Street, on Thursday, November 13, 2008 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. All interested agencies, parties, and the general public are invited to attend.

Public Participation
In addition, a committee, selected by the Mayor and the City Council, has been selected which will provide insight in the planning process. All meetings are open to the public, and public participation is encouraged and welcomed.
