Addressing
New Addresses and Suite Numbers All new addresses, including suite numbers are assigned by the Planning Division. New addresses include new subdivisions, commercial or industrial development, suite numbers, change of addresses, etc. Pursuant to Article 13 of Chapter 12 of the Fresno Municipal Code, all addressing in the city is determined on a base line system. This system determines the numbers of all new structures. Note that new numbers that are not in sequence will not be issued. Also note that in multiple family, commercial and industrial areas, each building is assigned a numerical number, while suites (i.e. 101, 102, 103) are issued for all tenant spaces and/or residential unit.
Request a Change of AddressFor various reasons, individuals may prefer to change their address. The city reviews every request on a case by case basis, although a few things to remember when requesting a change of address are:
1. Is the requested number in sequence?
2. Is it odd or even?
3. Does it follow conventional addressing practices?
To request a change of address, please visit the public planning counter. Note that there is a $100.00 fee to change an address.
For additional addressing information or to clarify if an existing address is correct, please call (559) 621-8277 or visit the Planning Division (third floor, south end of City Hall) which is open daily to the public between the hours of 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
