About Home Energy Tune-Up
For most people, the energy bill is the second largest expense of owning a home…second only to the mortgage payment. With a little knowledge, you have the power to lower your energy costs and create a better home in the process.
The City of Fresno is pleased to provide the Home Energy Tune-Up program to residents of Fresno, Kern, Kings and Tulare Counties. This public service initiative is funded by a federal Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant and offered collaboration with the California Energy Commission’s Energy Upgrade California Program.
Home Energy Tune-Up educates homeowners about energy savings opportunities in their homes. This is accomplished through a home energy assessment offered free to residents of Fresno, Kern, Kings and Tulare counties. How the Program Works
Energy efficient choices can save you up to a third on your home’s energy bill, while improving air quality indoors and out and adding to your comfort year-round. The more you do, the more you save. And informed consumers save the most.
Our free home energy survey will show you where to save energy. More important, it will recommend the energy efficiency home improvements that are most cost-effective and have the best payback.
Schedule your free home energy survey by calling 855-621-3733 or completing the online signup form. A qualified home energy rater will set up an in-home appointment. Expect the following during the visit
- A thorough 3-4 hours survey to determine where your home wastes energy.
- A detailed report recommending energy efficiency improvements.
- No-cost and low-cost ideas for saving energy.
- Help accessing available rebates, incentives and financing options if you choose to make home energy upgrades.
How to Find a Contractor
Some energy efficiency opportunities are the do-it-yourself kind…like caulking leaks and weather-stripping doors. Others require the services of a knowledgeable and reliable contractor.
If you choose to make upgrades involving the improvements or replacement of systems such as air conditioning, insulation, ductwork and hot water heating, for example, you’ll need a contractor. For additional information on contractors and available incentives visit www.energyupgradeca.com. Energy Upgrade California is a collaborative program administered by the California Energy Commission in partnership with public and private utilities, the California Public Utilities Commission and participating counties.
This project is being funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act or “Stimulus” dollars.
