Tires - Amnesty Day
Several times each year and in various places around the City, Code Enforcement sponsors a “Waste Tire Amnesty Day” event.
This event is made possible through a grant from the California Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB). The Division has held 8 Waste Tire Amnesty Day events since April of 2005. A total of 10,648 tires were collected and 2,028 residents took part in the events, bringing in an average of six tires each. The event is intended to prevent illegal tire dumping, divert waste tires from landfills, and help educate the public about waste tire recycling and proper tire maintenance.
Raising Public Awareness…..and mitigating the adverse environmental impacts created by unlawful dumping or storage of waste tires, are the ultimate purposes of such events. Removing waste tires from local neighborhoods promotes public health and safety; and, contributes to the beautification of our City.
LIMITS:There is a limit of five (5) tires which can be disposed of during Amnesty Days – tires with rims are ok.
RESTRICTIONS:No tractor or diesel tires (or larger) will be accepted.
