Disposal
Code Enforcement has received two important State sponsored grants used for waste tire enforcement.
The Waste Tire Clean-up Grant provides funding from the State to remove illegally dumped waste tires from alleys, roadways, and other public right-of-ways. During FY2006, over 18,000 tires were removed.
The Waste Tire Enforcement Grant provides funding to enforce State regulations regarding the hauling and storage of waste tires. All establishments that handle waste tires are inspected to ensure they are in compliance. This program has been shown to reduce the number of illegally dumped waste tires in jurisdictions where the program has been implemented.
