Education / Community Outreach
Education is the Key……… As the Code Enforcement Division continues to grow in size and in responsibility, staff seeks to expand the outreach communication message; actively empower citizens to recognize and remove their code violations; and, further promote the positive benefits of an efficient Code Enforcement Division to all the citizens of Fresno.
The need to provide education to the public regarding our mission and goals; an understanding of the Municipal Code; and defining our procedural operations has never been more critical; and there has been an increase in complexity with many of these cases. In recent years, the issue has become clear, “How do we utilize staff efficiently while assisting and educating the community at the same time?”
The Division has created numerous public education brochures, along with presentations to be given while speaking at various group meetings. Code Enforcement Division staff strive to proactively improve the Division’s image through education and empowerment. Each month, requests for our educational presentations have continued to grow – with a reduction of violations as the primary goal. Properly educating citizens in all areas of the City is the main focus. The past year has seen a continual growth in attendance at these meetings, and the rotation to different areas on a monthly basis has become a proven tool in expanding our educational message.
