FRESNO a culture of excellence where people get the best everyday. As an agency, our key objectives are to satisfy the needs of the public and of our employees, while managing our financial responsibilities. The employees of the City of Fresno work together to achieve our vision of providing innovative solutions and compassion to those that we serve. There has never been a better time to work for the City of Fresno. Come join our team and make a difference in your community.

The Personnel Department provides a number of services to the City organization. Most employment opportunities are advertised by this department, which then processes all employment applications and administers job-related tests to determine those applicants most qualified for available positions. Employment postings change as needed and can be found on the website using the "Job Opportunities" link in the left menu. Open opportunities are also recorded on the City's job line, (559) 621-6999.

The department works cooperatively with other City departments to assure that the services each provides, ranging from the public safety services provided by the Police and Fire Departments to the entertainment/leisure activities provided by the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department and Convention Center, are provided in a cost-effective and efficient manner. Staff coordinates a number of training programs for City employees, processes all incoming employees for payroll purposes, and responds to requests for information and assistance in regard to City employment. The department houses an electronic fingerprint scanner with a direct connection to the State Department of Justice (DOJ) to obtain criminal history checks on new-hires by the City and for referrals from other agencies having contracts with the DOJ.
