Leadership Development Training Offerings
Aspire to Supervise Training
This 9-hour course, facilitated by Consultant Jane Yow, is comprised of three sessions. The first, entitled "Walk Awhile in My Shoes," focuses on issues such as the expectations and needs of new supervisors. The second, entitled "Generations and Values in the Workplace," focuses on issues such helping employees to look beyond their own experiences to understand what makes each generation of employees unique. The third, entitled "Leadership for Effective Teams," focuses on issues such as team dynamics, group norms, and how to develop group growth.

Employee Performance: Appraisal and Management
This 16-hour course, led by Melany Felton or Charon Mckinley, helps Supervisors and Managers better understand the ongoing Performance Management process that culminates in the Annual Performance Evaluation.  The course is based upon the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) curriculum of the same name and covers the following 5 modules:  Performance Appraisal as a Supervisory Tool, Performance Planning, Documentation and Coaching, Evaluation Methods and Techniques, and Conducting an Appraisal Interview.  For more detail on when this training is offered, please see the Employee Performance:  Appraisal and Management Calendar

Performance Evaluations "101"
This one hour workshop, led by Melany Felton and Charon Mckinley, takes Supervisors and Managers through the "nuts and bolts" of Success Plans and the Performance Evaluation process.

Supervisor Academy
This 48-hour course, facilitated by Consultant Paul Pierce, helps first-line and mid-level Supervisors develop crucial supervisory skills and is based upon the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) "Effective Supervisory Skill Building" course. The Supervisor Academy covers topics such as planning and organizing, evaluating performance, building a work team, and addressing discipline problems. It also teaches skills that supervisors need to deal with new trends in local government such as quality management, workplace diversity, and changes in technology, legislation, and values.
