The Parks, After School, Recreation and Community Services Department (PARCS) is the largest after school program provider in the greater Fresno area. PARCS provides traditional after school recreation (ASR), a structured non-fee based program, at 17 FUSD elementary school sites during the hours of 2:00pm - 6:00pm and Fresno BEST (Building Everyone's Skills for Tomorrow) offered at several middle and high schools in FUSD and neighboring districts.
After School recreation plays a critical role in keeping children safe, reducing juvenile crime, increasing academic performance and school attendance. PARCS provides a supervised venue where children have the opportunity to learn and develop a healthy, productive lifestyle. Through a rotational basis the students can experience activities like art concepts, nutritional education, leadership training, sports and fitness.
