Mayor's Job Fair Aims to Help Public Achieve Employment Success
04/19/2006
FRESNO, CA (April 19, 2006) - The City of Fresno Department of Parks Recreation & Community Services (PRCS) would like to invite the media to join Mayor Alan Autry and PRCS Director Randy Cooper as they welcome nearly 70 employers and hundreds of participants to the Inaugural Mayor’s Job Fair on Thursday, April 20th at 10:00 a.m. at the Fresno Convention Center.
The fair, which will be held at the new Exhibit Hall, features a variety of employers such as Pelco, Kaiser Permanente, Broder Brothers (who will be hiring 30 employees on the spot), Cheesecake Factory, Vons, CalTrans, Fresno Valves & Casting, Maaco, State Farm Insurance and more. As part of the ‘Mayor’s Jobs Initiative,’ the goal of the job fair is to further connect the unemployed and working poor to successful permanent employment as well as provide an avenue for young adults to make career changes.
The ‘Mayor’s Jobs Initiative’ is a product of the Mayor’s vision to create employment and training opportunities for the young adult populations living in Fresno matched with a long standing PRCS plan to serve young adults who don’t have educational opportunities and life skills experience and just simply need employment to get their life on track.
