According to the California Department of Finance, the 2011 estimated population of Fresno is 500,121, making it the fifth largest city in the state of California. Projections show that Fresno will grow by 7.66% during the next five years.

Fresno County, California's 10th largest county, has a population currently estimated at 940,220. It is projected that by the year 2020, the county will have a population exceeding 1.1 million residents.
