Firework Safety
The use of "Safe and Sane" fireworks is permitted within the Fresno City limits during the Fourth of July holiday.
"Safe and Sane" fireworks can be used or discharged in the City of Fresno 365 days a year between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. except for period of June 28th to July 6th when use and discharge will be allowed between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 12:00 a.m.
Persons 18 years or older may purchase fireworks. No one under the age of 18 year may buy or sell fireworks.
Fireworks may be discharged in controlled safety zones. This includes parks (regional, neighborhood and pocket), school sites, and flood control sites WITH THE CONSENT OF THE GOVERNING BODY. Other supervised sites within neighborhoods include driveways and cul-de-sac locations, which are at least 30 feet from any structure or vehicle. The use of fireworks may not impede the travel of any vehicle or pedestrian.
The City of Fresno Fire Department maintains a "high visibility" during the fireworks season and will confiscate illegal fireworks if located. There is a $1,250 fine for the possession or use of illegal fireworks.
A Fireworks hotline has been established to report illegal fireworks activity.
If fireworks leave the ground or explode, they are illegal.

- Use a water hose and bucket to wet spent or "dud" fireworks
- Provide adult supervision at all times
- Use general common sense when it comes to fire and life safety
