07/05/06  Illegal Fireworks Task Force Results
FRESNO, CA (July 5, 2006) – Last night’s illegal fireworks task force utilizing a joint pro-active fire and police response proved to be a success. While the Fresno Fire Department’s calls for service more than tripled during the 4 th of July holiday, citizens sustained no major injuries, or property loss as result of use of fireworks. Please take a moment to review the below statistics from last night’s task force: Task Force Results: Fresno Police Officers and Firefighters issued 53 illegal fireworks citations during last night’s operation, and made one arrest for probation violation. >more

WHAT: The Fresno City Fire Department staff will be stenciling warning signs on the canal abatements near schools, in an effort to raise water safety awareness. In the past eighteen months alone, the Fresno Fire Department has responded to 20 water related rescue calls. The Fresno Fire Department’s Urban Search And Rescue team (USAR) will be on hand to discuss the unique challenges canal rescues present. >more

05/10/06  North Central Fire Protection District Board to Vote on Merger Plan
WHAT: Today NCFPD board members are expected cast their vote deciding whether they’ll contract with the Fresno City Fire Department for services. The 30 year deal to regionalizing fire services would significantly increase both fire protection and medical services to residents. Supporters of the proposed merger include NCFPD Firefighters Union, NCFPD Chief Lonnie Downs, and Kerman Mayor Ken Moore. >more

04/26/06  Fresno Fire Department’s Plan to Regionalize Fire Service Goes to Vote
WHO: Randy Bruegman, Fresno City Fire ChiefNorth Central Fire Protection District Board MembersFresno County Firefighters Local 1180 WHAT: Fresno City Fire Chief Randy Bruegman will attend the North Central Fire Protection District’s meeting tonight, where the NCFD Board is expected to vote on a proposal to merge services. Chief Bruegman has proposed multiple plans that would result in a significant increase in fire protection. Under the Chief’s proposals the Department’s fire protection coverage would stretch west of Kerman, and elevate overall fire service to residents of both the NCFD response area, and City of Fresno. >more

Fresno, CA (April 25, 2006) – With warmer weather approaching, Fresno residents are readying their outdoor grills. The Fresno City Fire Department and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) are urging caution when grilling, ensuring safe cookouts. According to NFPA, gas-fueled and charcoal grills cause an average of 900 home structure fires and 3,500 home outdoor fires each year. >more
