Fancher Creek

The vision embodied in the Fancher Creek Parkway & Trail marries a variety of outdoor recreational experiences with the peacefulness evoked by the open space and timelessness of a lush valley riparian corridor. It will be the major design element in unifying the surrounding urban development. The local street system will be integrated into the Park/Trail through a series of urban design enhancements. These will take the form of "gateway" points that announce to the motorist that the Parkway/Trail is near.

The Parkway/Trail system will also be linked to existing and proposed transit routes. In addition, transfer points/bus stops along the creek will be developed. Facilities along the Parkway/Trail will include a comprehensive sign program, drinking fountains, benches, and information kiosks.

Residential:
   1,800 units

Commercial:
   1 million sq. ft.

Business Park:
   1.5 million sq. ft.

Southeast Growth Area (SEGA)

It has been estimated that Fresno County will grow to one million residents by the year 2050. The majority of these residents will live in the Fresno-Clovis Metropolitan Area (FCMA). The 14 square mile Southeast Growth Area, generally located east of Temperance Avenue, south of the City of Clovis, and west of the City of Sanger, will accommodate a significant portion of the anticipated FCMA growth.

To effectively plan for this growth, the City of Fresno will focus on developing a model for efficient and sustainable growth around transit-supportive centers and walkable neighborhoods; a system of multi-purpose trails and open spaces; improved air quality through reduced reliance on automobiles; substantial land, water, and energy resource conservation; high performance economic development; and fiscal sustainability.

Metro Rural Loop

The proposed Metro Rural Loop (MRL) is an innovative regional land use and economic development approach envisioning a multi-modal, multi-city, multi-county, and transit-oriented transportation corridor system. It would directly and efficiently link the development of the majority of 30 incorporated cities in Fresno, Kings, Madera, and Tulare counties.  The MRL would define one of the most significant, sustainable, and effective smart growth-oriented regional metropolitan areas in the state of California.

Fresno Yosemite International Airport Improvements

Construction of the much anticipated Airport Baggage Claim Expansion and Terminal Remodel Project began on April 7, 2008.

When the expansion project is completed, the baggage claim area will double its current size, with two modern, T-shaped carousels replacing the small in-wall units. The remodeled terminal lobby will feature raised ceilings with efficient lighting; way-finding carpet motif throughout the terminal; the consolidation of the airlines along one wall; and other innovative enhancements designed to improve the overall customer experience.

Also beginning at the same time was the "Sense of Place" theming project, specifically designed to reflect the personality of the region with
replicas of the nearby giant Sequoia trees.

Construction is expected to be completed by Summer 2009.
