Downtown Specific and Community Plans
Making development cheaper, easier, and more predictable. Improving walkability, livability, and health. Creating certainty about investments in urban Fresno. These are among the goals of the new land use laws being created now for Downtown and surrounding neighborhoods. Find out more about the Downtown Plans here.

Picture your favorite city. Are people walking up and down the sidewalk? Is there a mix of local restaurants, shops, public areas, offices, and living space? Is there nightlife?

When you think of a city, you probably think of its downtown. In Downtown Fresno, the City is supporting a higher standard for planning and design, incentives for investment and development, a stronger role for the private sector, and new events to bring foot traffic.

Our goal is a revitalized downtown, a place where you love to be.

Our community-led revitalization efforts have brought together City of Fresno departments, local schools, non-profits, faith-based organizations, businesses, property owners, and most importantly our residents. Dozens of groups and local residents are all working together for the first time, communicating openly to plan, design, fund and restore our historic neighborhoods and create a better quality and self-sustaining life for our citizens.
