Community Housing Council (CHC) of Fresno, formerly known as Fresno Housing Resource Center (FHRC), is a community benefit organization, approved by HUD as a local housing counseling agency.  CHC is a member-based, non-profit organization that extends membership to anyone interested in promoting homeownership.  The primary focus of the agency is to assist low- to moderate-income families become homeowners through education.  CHC can help those with lower credit scores to become "mortgage ready" through credit counseling and financial coaching.

The agency also raises money to award grants to homebuyers who might not otherwise be able to complete their purchase due to a shortage of funds.  These grants are available on a case-by-case basis in amounts up to $3,000 for a purchase in the County of Fresno. 

Services provided include:

• Pre-purchase education and counseling services
• Mortgage default education and counseling
• Financial management counseling
• Loan document review
• Mortgage pre-qualification assessment
