Disabled Accessibility Grant Program
PLEASE NOTE: THE DISABLED ACCESSIBILITY GRANT PROGRAM IS AVAILABLE ONLY IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE HOME IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM.
The City of Fresno’s Disabled Accessibility Grant Program provides grants to low-income seniors or individuals with physical disabilities. This program allows for accessibility improvements to homes. Funds for the program are made available through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HIPP). Grant amounts vary from $4,000 to $10,000.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
APPLICANTS
- Must meet the Home Improvement Program Requirements.
- One of the homeowners must be at least 62 years of age.
- One of the homeowners (or their child) must be
physically disabled.
INCOME
Combined household gross income must be at, or
below, 80% of the area median income, as established
by HUD (See chart below).
2013 HUD INCOME LIMITS:

2 PEOPLE - $3,058
3 PEOPLE - $3,441
4 PEOPLE - $3,820
5 PEOPLE - $4,129
6 PEOPLE - $4,433
7 PEOPLE - $4,741
8 PEOPLE - $5,045

GENERAL
BATHROOM ITEMS
- Grab bars
- Level faucets in the bathroom sink
- Roll-in shower
- Shower stall with a 4-inch bottom lip
- Hand-held adjustable shower head
KITCHEN ITEMS
- Removable base cabinets under sink
- Repositioning of countertop heights
- Level faucets in the kitchen sink
- Base cabinets with pull-out shelves
- Base cabinets with lazy Susans
HOW TO APPLY
Contact the Housing and Community Development Division
staff at (559) 621-8300 and request that your name be
placed on the waiting list. Upon being selected, you will be
invited to submit an application with supporting
documentation. When your application information is
determined to meet eligibility criteria, you will be contacted
with further instructions on how to proceed.
