Community Outreach and Educational Resources……Education is the Key

As the Community Revitalization Division continues to grow in responsibility, staff seeks to expand the outreach communication message.  Through community outreach efforts we hope to actively empower citizens to recognize and remove their code violations and further promote the positive benefits of an efficient Division to all the citizens of Fresno.

The need to provide education to the public regarding our mission and goals; an understanding of the Fresno Municipal Code; and, defining our operations has never been more critical. In recent years, the issue has become clear:

How do we utilize staff efficiently while assisting and educating the community at the same time?

Our Division has created numerous public education brochures, along with presentations to be given while speaking at various group meetings. Staff enthusiastically strives to proactively improve the Division’s image through education and empowerment. Each month, requests for our educational presentations have continued to grow – with a reduction of violations as the primary Division goal. Properly educating citizens in all areas of the City is the focus. Staff has seen a continual growth in public attendance at these meetings, and the rotation to different areas of the City has become a proven tool in expanding our educational message.

The City of Fresno’s Community Revitalization Division would like to personally invite you

….your group, school, church, or other organization to consider the educational resources available through our Division's Outreach Program. Our objective is to educate and assist citizens in ways to improve their neighborhoods by addressing visual blight, zoning issues, and sub-standard living conditions. We welcome an invitation from your organization to one of your meetings, block parties, neighborhood watch meetings, church, or social group.

The following resources are available for presentation:

  • Power Point Presentations – an overview of available City resources on a variety of specific topics.
  • Brochures – information on specific topics covering our services.
  • Handouts – informational notices utilized by our Inspectors which show examples of common violations.
  • Translators – available in a number of languages, including Spanish and Hmong.

It is our mission to enhance the quality of life for the citizens of our community by promoting and maintaining a safe and desirable place to live and work.

If you have any questions and/or would like to invite us to your meeting, please call Community Revitalization at (559) 621-8400 or use our on-line reporting system.
