Councilmember Henry T. Perea Cuts Ribbon at Mckenzie Trail
06/02/2010

Fresno, CA (June 2, 2010) On Friday, June 4, 2010 at 10AM at Helm and Mckenzie Councilmember Perea will be joined by Supervisor Henry R. Perea, City of Fresno Public Works, the office of Supervisor Debbie Poochigian, students from Kings Canyon Middle School and representatives from Burroughs Neighborhood Committee to cut the ribbon at the long awaited reopening of the Mckenzie trail.

First constructed in the 1970’s on the old Clovis Branch Line right-of-way of the Southern Pacific Railroad, the trail provides bike and walk lanes from Willow to Clovis Avenue. The Mckenzie trail has been the subject of a major improvement project which has added trees, shrubs, groundcover, benches and lighting to enhance the enjoyment and safety of the public on the trail. These improvements, paid for with Measure “C” funds, will provide much needed green space for south east Fresno and support a healthier lifestyle for the surrounding residents.

“Trails and parks are key to supporting a healthier more active lifestyle and are a great reinvestment into the community. I can’t wait to use the trail myself and know it will be an important asset to this neighborhood.”
