Perea Urges Fresno to Join Lawsuit
06/05/2009

Fresno , CA (June 5, 2009) On Thursday, June 11 Councilmember Henry T. Perea will place an item on the council agenda to discuss legal options in response to new rules proposed Thursday that could cut water deliveries from the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta by 10%. Some water users such as Westlands feel that the report was not properly conducted and should be redone.

“This ruling could be devastating to the farmers of California and the City of Fresno. We are already experiencing a drought and now this decision will have a greater impact on the Valley’s economy. I believe we must strike a balance in protecting the environment and our economy. If this decision is not reversed, we will see unemployment skyrocket."

Councilmember Perea will be asking the city council to join in a lawsuit against this new ruling.
