Perea Directs City to Introduce Twitter, measure is aimed at improving constituent services
06/26/2009
Fresno, CA (June 26, 2009) In an effort to improve communication with the residents of Fresno Councilmember Perea has asked the City Managers’ office to bring a Twitter application to the 621-CITY call-in number. This application will allow residents to use their Twitter accounts to report information such as potholes, missing signs, burnt out streetlights or other City issues anytime day or night. Councilmember Perea will be asking for an update at the July 16th Council meeting.
“I feel it’s important for a City to change and improve with the times. Social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter are the new ways many people communicate. This will allow us to add a new way for our constituents to keep in touch and create a new flexibility in the way people talk to City Hall.”
