Fresno, CA (February 27, 2007) On Thursday, February 28th, Councilmember and San Joaquin Valley Air District Board member Henry T. Perea will travel to Sacramento to testify as to the need for more funding from Proposition 1B be spent to improve our air quality in the San Joaquin Valley. Proposition 1B was passed by California voters in 2006 and allocates $1 billion to help reduce air pollution. The Board will decide how these funds should be distributed Thursday and at this time many leaders in the central valley feel they have not been given fair consideration when it comes to deciding where this money will be spent.

“Fighting for clean, healthy air in the Valley is something I will continue to do no matter what. Proposition 1B was good legislation that I supported, but the money should go where it’s most needed and that’s right here. I intend to advocate for my home and bring some resources to help us in our struggle improve air quality.”
