Perea Walks for Healthier Neighborhoods

Fresno, CA (October 12, 2007) Council President Henry T. Perea is proud to participate in the Burroughs Neighborhood Committee Walkable Community Workshop on Monday, October 15. The workshop, which is sponsored by Kaiser Permanente and the Building Healthy Neighborhoods Task force, will include presentations on how to build more physically active neighborhoods and a guided tour to point out neighborhood features that encourage or discourage walking and biking.
Perea, who has long been a supporter of more walkable neighborhoods in Fresno, will participate in the guided neighborhood tour. The Council President feels this tour will be an important opportunity to discuss and view the infrastructure needed for healthier neighborhoods that encourage physical activity and reduce dependence on cars.
