Perea And City To Rehab District 7 Duplex
06/06/2006
Fresno, CA (June 6, 2006) On Tuesday, June, 6th, Henry T. Perea and the Fresno City Council voted to approve a plan to acquire and rehabilitate a boarded-up property in Council District 7. The complex, located at 3435 E Tyler, has been an eyesore and blight on the neighborhood for several years. This project will allow the city to purchase the property and then work with a local non-profit agency to rehabilitate it and turn it into safe, clean, affordable housing.
Councilmember Perea has always been interested in exploring new solutions to housing problems in the Fresno area and feels that the rehabilitation of older homes is an underused resource. This project will address both urban blight by revamping a central Fresno duplex and the rising cost of housing by creating additional affordable units. Henry T. Perea is excited to see a project address the needs of older neighborhoods in central Fresno and hopes to see many more like it in the future.
