Council Honors Julian Perea

Fresno, CA (April 18, 2006) On Tuesday, April 18th, The Fresno City Council proclaimed it to be Officer Julian Perea Day. Officer Perea, who is the uncle of Acting Council President Henry T. Perea, had recently been awarded the Carl Hernandez Peer Recognition award after 30 years of service to the Fresno Police Department. The prestigious award is given to an officer who is selected by his or her peers for exhibiting the highest standards of professional conduct.

Officer Perea will retire this year after having served with the Fresno Police department since 1976. In addition to his many years of service to the City of Fresno, Officer Perea also served as a member of the Air National guard. He is a Vietnam Veteran and was activated again after the September 11th attacks. The City of Fresno was honored to recognize a man who has set such a fine example in both his professional and personal conduct.
