08/12/2009
New Policy Will Enhance Due Diligence, Oversight and Redevelopment Agency Business Practices.
Fresno City Councilman Lee Brand will release a resolution he will be bringing forward for City Council/Agency Board approval at their August 20th meeting, which is designed to provide structured policies for applicants requesting Redevelopment Agency financial assistance in excess of $1 million. The proposed resolution, named the “Redevelopment Improvement Act”, is a comprehensive policy document that covers due diligence and oversight of RDA proposals, agreements and services.
“These new policies will establish consistent business practices and provide for more structure in Agency development agreements,” stated Councilman Brand. “They will also provide more transparency in Redevelopment Agency transactions.”
The resolution is supported by the Agency Director & Assistant Director, RDA Chair, Councilman Blong Xiong; and, Council President Cynthia Sterling. The initiative is also supported by the Fresno Chamber of Commerce and the Fresno Police Officers Association. Councilman Brand will be making presentations outlining his proposal to additional local community groups prior to the August 20th Council meeting.
