Sal Quintero
Council Assistant
Having lived in Fresno all his life attending local schools and graduating from San Joaquin Memorial High School, gave Sal a deep appreciation for Fresno’s diverse community, its rich history and its bright future.
After attending Fresno City College in 1968, Sal was employed by Berven Rug Mills in its Varidye Division and eventually was promoted to the position of foreman, supervising approximately 120 employees. In 1974 Sal was involved in a partnership with his brother John, owning commercial property and apartments. In 1984 Sal started his own marketing consulting company, focusing on non profit health centers, ballot initiatives and political campaigns.
In 1995, Sal was elected to the Fresno City Council, representing District 5, the area he grew up in and still resides in with his wife Lola. Sal served 2– 4 year terms, making Fresno history by being the first incumbent Councilmember to run unopposed for re-election. Another part of local history was made by Sal when he was elected the first Council President under the strong Mayor form of Government.

Rosa Vasquez
Staff Assistant
Rosa Vasquez, was hired in September 2004. Her main duties include helping constituents with their needs and concerns in both English and Spanish. As well as working closely with various city departments such as, Code Enforcement, Public Works, Parks and Recreation, Public Utilities, Community Sanitation, Southeast Policing District and Graffiti Abatement Team.
Rosa, also helps organize District 5 events, neighborhood meetings, creates proclamations and certificates, press releases and other office duties
Prior to working for District 5 Rosa worked for Code Enforcement and the Anti Graffiti Abatement Team for two years. She is a valuable asset in Councilmember Mike Dages’ office.

Brenda Gilbert
Staff Assistant
Brenda Gilbert, the latest addition to the staff, was hired in March 2007.
Her duties include constituent services , creating request for service, field work, and regular office duties, as well as working closely with various city departments, such as Code Enforcement, Graffiti Abatement Team, Public Works, Community Sanitation and Parks & Recreation.
Prior to working in District 5, Brenda worked as a district manager for a loan company. She is a great asset to our office.
