Parks and Recreation

One of my other goals is to increase the number of parks and recreation facilities in Southeast Fresno. I believe that we need to provide a recreational venue for the kids to ensure that they live and lead a healthier life, and bring the recreational space deficiencies to an end. With this in mind we are expanding the number of parks in the area, and introducing new forms of recreational facilities to the area.

Opened:

  • Sal Quintero Park
This park was funded in part by former Assembly Member Sarah Reyes, and was dedicated in her honor. This beautiful park is located to the west of the Sal Mosqueda Center on Butler and Maple Ave.

  • Trolley Creek Park
This innovative park is Fresno’s second park to directly cater to special-needs citizens, as well as all able-bodied citizens. Located on South Adler Ave and Huntington Blvd, this park embraces the creative architecture of a historic Fresno.

In Development:

  • Belmont & Sunnyside
This particular park will have two youth baseball fields, concession area with restrooms, and is expected to open April 2006
  • Ponding Basin on Chestnut, between Church & Jensen
  • Peach & California
  • Alongside Fancher Creek Elementary School
  • Along Mckenzie Trail
  • Willow & Townsend
  • Skate & Bike park at Mosqueda Center

Along with the extended development of parks in Southeast Fresno, the community is also a major part in renovating the area. Listed are special projects going on in the area and various different community events open to the general public.

  • Little League Baseball
  • Soccer
  • Ernest E Valdez Exhibit Hall
  • Fresno Fair Clean up
  • Farmer’s Market
  • Job Fairs
