Councilmember Westerlund, together with the Redevelopment Agency (RDA) and the City Airports Department, led efforts to raise the profile of the Fresno Yosemite International Airport monument by illuminating the sign. The monument was originally constructed in October 2009 as part of the Clovis Avenue Beautification project and serves as a welcome landmark to area visitors and motorists. The lighting feature is powered by the sun using solar energy which not only brings additional attention to the landmark, but maintains the City’s sustainability and cost-cutting efforts .
