Federal stimulus dollars are now available for Fresno County businesses to cover almost all of the expenses of new employees through 2010. The Fresno Chamber is coordinating activities to help you take advantage of this new opportunity to underwrite the cost of new employees. All you need to do is attend a one-hour session that describes the details and register your company - it's that simple! The 80/20 program will cover the salary, supplies, materials, training and other related costs for these employees. >more

The City of Fresno Public Works will be doing street improvement on Shaw Ave.The eastbound and westbound lanes of Shaw Avenue between Highway 168 and just west of Blackstone Avenue will be impacted by lane and ramp closures during scheduled road re-paving work starting Sunday, October 11. It will continue to October 20, 24-hours a day.Motorist are encouraged to use alternate routes during construction, whenever possible >more

Fresno Council votes to return part of salaries Fresno City Council members approved a policy that allows them to return part of their salaries as a gesture toward employees who could be asked to forgo raises in July. By a 4-1 vote Thursday, the council authorized the city treasury to "accept donations" until June 30, 2010.Council Member Larry Westerlund, a sponsor of the resolution, said the council should "take the cut first. >more
