Ashley Swearengin was sworn in as mayor of Fresno at 9:35 this morning at City Hall.
Swearengin thanked her family and supporters, and said she was eager to get to work.
She outlined what she called "ambitious" goals for the first 100 days of her administration. Her plans include an analysis of city efficiency, a separate analysis of all city departments, and a drive to streamline the city permitting process.
Swearengin also thanked outgoing mayor Alan Autry for his leadership.
Autry, who spoke before Swearengin, kept his remarks brief, saying Fresno "always was a special place for a country kid."
His said his goals during his eight years in office were simple: "My mother always told me to leave a place better than I found it."
Earlier, new City Council Members Lee Brand and Andreas Borgeas were sworn in, and Council Member Paul Caprioglio was reappointed.
