Election Winners and Losers From Around The Central Valley

As is the case with all elections, Tuesday night's direct primary left in it's path winners and losers up and down the Central Valley.
In Fresno County three City Council seats were up for grabs.
In District 2, which covers Northwest Fresno, law school professor Andreas Borgeas, and businessman Michael Karbassi, vied to replace Brian Calhoun. With 9 precincts reporting, Borgeas had 67% of the vote while Karbassi had 32%.
In District 4, which covers Central Fresno, incumbent Larry Westerlund hoped to capture his second term in office. Westerlund is currently deployed in Iraq, where he is a Lieutenant Commander with the Navy Reserve. Westerlund's opponent is Susan Good, a 54-year-old businesswoman and District Director for State Senator Dean Florez. With 15 precincts reporting, Westerlund had 60% of the vote, while Good had 39%.
In District 6, which covers North Fresno, there were three candidates on the ballot seeking the replace the seat Jerry Duncan currently occupies. Businessman Lee Brand, Attorney Michelle Jorgensen and Realtor Matt White.
Lee Brand is the President of Westco Equities, Inc, and has also served on the City Planning Commission. Michelle Jorgensen is a local attorney, and Matt White is a local realtor. With four precincts reporting, Brand had 69% of the vote, Jorgensen had 26% and White had 3%.
Voters also cast ballots for two open seats on the Fresno County Board of Supervisors.
Running for the seat in District 2 was incumbent, Susan B. Anderson and former Fresno City Councilman Brian Calhoun, along with Paul Dictos, a certified public accountant. With 30 precincts reporting, Anderson had 54% of the vote, Calhoun had 28% and Dictos had 16%.
